You are eligible for veneers if you have minor cosmetic imperfections or stained teeth, have an excellent oral health history, have plenty of tooth enamel, and have good oral hygiene practices. Once you have decided that you will go with a veneer, your first visit will involve the dentist preparing your tooth by removing a tiny bit of enamel from your tooth’s surface. This allows for the needed space to insert the veneer that will cover the original tooth. It will also help make the veneer look more natural when compared to the surrounding teeth. The dentist will then take impressions of your teeth, which are used to make precise working models of your mouth and teeth. These models are used to artistically craft veneers to fit the prepared teeth. It can take up to four weeks to get the finished product. Once the veneer comes in, the dentist will make sure that it not only fits but looks natural when compared to surrounding teeth. Once both the dentist and patient are happy with the look and feel, the dentist will cement the veneer to the tooth.

During your second appointment, before the veneer is cemented on, your tooth will be cleaned, polished, and roughed up a little to ensure a secure bonding process.
